How many Temples, Churches and gurdwaras existing in Karachi division including security measure taken by department for their safety?

ANSWER

 

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (CHIEF MINISTER) MINISTER FOR MINORITIES AFFAIRS:-

 

There are currently 57 Temples, 67 Churches, & 8 Gurdwaras in Karachi Division. It is further submitted that this department does not have any provisions to deploy security guards for these religious sites. Instead security arrangement is managed by the local police upon request. We actively coordinate with the police department to ensure that appropriate security measures are implementing as necessary.

  1. Is it a fact that Island in Sukkur is in a dilapidated condition;
  2. If answer to (a) above is affirmative, assistance provided by the Department for its repairs?

ANSWER

 

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (CHIEF MINISTER) MINISTER FOR MINORITIES AFFAIRS:-

 

It is submitted that Two islands, Bakhar Island and Sadhu Bela are located in Deh Nao Sukkur, within the jurisidiction of Sukkur City. Neither of the Islands has been City Surveyed.

i) Bakhar Island is under the control of the Army. In the financial year 2021-22 the scheme of langerkhana was not executed due to non issuance of NOC of Evacuee Trust Board.  

ii) The ADP scheme no. 3265 Consolidation/Rehabilitation at Sadhu  Bela Sukkur is now shifted from Minorities Affairs Department to Culture & Tourism & Antiquities Department on 28.03.2024.  The handing & taking over of inventory is under process.

How many Temples, Churches and gurdwaras existing in Mirpurkhas Division what security measures taken by department for safety?

 

ANSWER

 

SYED MURAD ALI SHAH (CHIEF MINISTER) MINISTER FOR MINORITIES AFFAIRS:-

 

There are currently 179 Temples and 8 Churches in the Mirpurkhas Division. It is further submitted that this department does not have provisions to deploy security guards for religious sites. Instead, security arrangements are managed by the local police upon request. We actively coordinate with the police department to ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented as necessary.

District-wise number of minority students granted scholarships by the department from 2020 to-date?

 

ANSWER

  • 6434 number ofminority students were granted scholarships by the department from 2020 to-date.
  • District-wise detail number is at Annexure placed on the Table of the House.

How many Temples, Churches and Gurdwaras existing in Hyderabad/Sukkur division and what security measures have been taken by the department for their safety?

  1. Total Number of Religious Sites: The

Following is the total number of temples, churches, and gurdwaras currently existing in the Hyderabad Division:

 

  • Temples (mandirs):             170
  • Chureches:                          32
  • Gurdwaras:                         02

 

  1. Security Arrangements: SecurityArrangements are managed by the local police on request. The Department actively coordinates with the police to ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented as necessary.

 

  1. Surveillance Systems: Installation of CCTV cameras at major temples, churches, and gurdwaras to monitor activities and detect any suspicious behavior. The presence of these cameras enhances situational awareness and helps in prompt identification of any security threat.
