WILL THE MINISTER FOR HEALTH BE PLEASED TO STATE:-

District-wise number of people died of gastro in Karachi during 2018 to 2020 alongwith steps taken by the government and intends to take in future?

ANSWER

DR. AZRA FAZAL PECHUHO: MINISTER FOR HEALTH:-

District wise number of people Died,

            Step taken by the Government of Sindh.

1.      Medical Camps were arranged.

2.      Health awareness sessions were conducted.

3.      ORT corners were established in all primary & secondary Hospitals.

4.      WASA was taken on board for chlorination of water supplies.

5.      Aquatabs were provided for chlorination of water tanks and tankers.

6.      Outbreak investigations were carried out where outbreak took place and response generated.

Precautionary measures to be taken in future.

1.      Chlorination of water will be ensured by taking WASA on board.

2.      Distribution of Aquatabs as per requirement of the districts.

3.      Health awareness sessions will be conducted regarding hand washing and personal hygiene.

4.      Adequate supply of ORS and syrup/tablet zinc to the districts.

5.      Necessary interventions will be done with assistance of RRTs & DDSRU’s.

Number of junior officers posted on OPS basis in Health department during 2020 to 2023, as well as detail there of?

No, it is not a fact and no junior officers posted on OPS basis in Health Department from 2020 to 2023.

Whether Sindh Government Qatar hospital have sufficient specialists for areas such as cardiology, neurology, critical care, etc. If so the details thereof?

            No, it is not a fact, many specialist are working in the Hospital and list of doctors given below:

(a)      Is it a fact that department have long term vision plans for expansion, modernization etc, for Sindh Government Qatar Hospital,

(b)      If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the detail thereof:

          Affirmative.

The ADP scheme 1237/2023-24 namely “STRENGTHENING OF SINDH GOVERNMENT QATAR HOSPITAL, ORANGI TOWN KARACHI” is under execution.

Under the ADP scheme, Gynae Ward, Emergency Ward, Medical Ward, Diagnostic Center & Nursing Hostel was completed and as well latest equipment with modern technology was also purchased to energize and functionalize the hospital for the benefit of poor patients.

(a)      Whether the department is exploring public private partnership to support government efforts to provide quality health care services,

(b)      If answer to (a) above is affirmative, the details thereof?

ANSWER

DR. AZRA FAZAL PECHUHO: MINISTER FOR HEALTH:-

            Health Department established Public Private Partnership (PPP) Node in 2015 in light of PPP Act 2010 to provide quality healthcare services throughout Province.

In this regard following Partners are working with Health Departments,

People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative PPHI-Sindh, (run more than 1400 Health Facilities i.e BHU, GDs & RHCs).

Medical Emergency & Resilience Foundation MERF, (run 8 Health Facilities of District Thatta including DHQ Hospital Thatta.

The INDUS Hospital, (DHQ Hospital Badin).

Poverty Eradicating Initiative PEI (Sindh Government Children Hospital North Karachi).

Four Regional Blood Centers (RBCs) at Karachi, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad & Sukkur run by Fatimid Foundation, INDUS Hospital & Sukkur Drug and Blood Donating Society (SBDDS). Each RBC has 7 attached Hospital Based Blood Banks (HBBBs) to provide safe blood transfusion to Hospital in whole Province free of cost.

Safety and Security project at National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Karachi by Security N Commission.

Safety and Security project for JPMC has also been approved and execution process to ensure Safety of doctors, paramedics and new born theft.

(a)      Is it a fact that a number of children died of deadly diseases measles in district Tharparker from 2018 to 2023;

(b)      If answer to (a) above be in the affirmative the detail there of including steps taken to eradicate said disease?

ANSWER

DR. AZRA FAZAL PECHUHO: MINISTER FOR HEALTH:-

Affirmative.

1- Health Department, establish a District Control Room for Measles at M&E Cell, DHO office Tharparkar at Mithi.

2- Health Department, establish Isolation wards for Measles cases in Civil Hospital Mithi, THQ-Diplo, THQ-Nagarparkar, RHC-Chhachro, RHC-Kheme Jo Par, RHC-Islamkot & RHC-Khensar.

3- Measles case responses started immediately in even suspected measles cases villages and also eligible children vaccinated for measles vaccine to contain virus circulation.

4- Vitamin A supplementation given to all suspected measles cases as well to active cases.

5- Enhancement of Routine Immunization through Vaccinators for all vaccine preventable disease.

Number of medical and non-medical staff sanctioned for BHU’s of Karachi-West district along with number of staff actually working there as on 31-12-2023?

ANSWER

Reply is submitted by District Health Officer, West Karachi. There are 02, 50-beded Hospitals, 10-Government Dispensaries and 01-BHU in District West, Karachi.

(a) Is it a fact that due to contaminated water diarrhea is spreading epidemically in Karachi 183 cases have been reported from January to April 2024;

(b) If answer to (a) above is in affirmative steps taken by the department to control the same? 

ANSWER

DR. AZRA FAZAL PECHUHO: MINISTER FOR HEALTH:-

Yes,

            Following steps are taken by the department, Government of Sindh.

·      Medical Camps were arranged.

·      Health awareness sessions were conducted.

·      ORT Corners were established in all health facilities of Karachi.

·      Adequate supply of ORS=60,000, Syp: Zinc=5720, Tab: Zinc=186000, Inj: Amikacin 250mg=22000 and Tab: Aquatabs 67mg=10,000 to the health facilities of Karachi.

·      KW&SB was taken on board for chlorination of water supplies.

·      Aquatabs were provided for chlorination of water tanks and tankers.

·      Outbreak investigations were carried out where outbreak took place & response was generated.

(a) Is it a fact that fire incident occurred in Sindh Government Hospitals Liaquatabad in January,2024;

(b) If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, number of persons martyred and injured alongwith any compensation paid to the martyrs and medical treatment provided to the injured as well as  prevention for such incidents?

The fire incident occurred in Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, Karachi in February 2024. The details of martyred and injured persons along with compensation are as under:
