The amount collected through CHANDA (Donation) boxes of shrines in 2022-2024 located in Liyari Town Karachi?

The collection (Chanda) boxes of shrine in Liyari Town Karachi from 2022-23 to 2023-24 is as under:-

1. Dargah Bibi Miran Pir                      Rs. 457,345/-

2. Dargah Muhammad Shah Doola      Rs.2,352,390/-

3. Dargah Chuttan Shah                                   Rs. 729,264/-

4. Dargah Chilla Miran Datar               Rs. 478,965/-

(a)      Is it a fact that the government provides funds for mosque maintenance?

(b)      If answer to (a) above is affirmative the details?

ANSWER

MR. RIAZ HUSSAIN SHAH SHEERAZI, MINISTER FOR AUQAF, RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS,ZAKAT& USHR:

The Government of Sindh provides funds under the head of account repair maintenance of Shrines in Sindh not specific for Masjids/Mosques. However this department has carried out the work of repair, renovation at Jamia Masjid Khezar Hayat Thatta from the M&R Head of Shrines in Sindh. It is further stated that funds were also provided under ADP schemes Rs. 29.620 million for Rehabilitation of Jamia Masjid Jhole, District Sanghar and Rs. 21.903 million for Reconstruction of Jamia Masjid Ghosia Alia Ranipur.

(a)   What criteria are used to register madrasas across Sindh?

(b)   How many madrasas are unregistered or unregulated in Sindh?

ANSWER

The subject of Registration of Madaris does not fall within the domain of this Department as stipulated in Sindh Government Rules of Business 1986, which actually falls within domain of Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Sindh.

(b)      If answer to (a) above is in affirmative, details thereof?

The subject of Interfaith does not fall within the domain of this Department as stipulated in Sindh Government Rules of Business 1986, which actually falls within domain of Minorities Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. Schedule-II of the Sindh Government Rules of Business-1986 titled as Distribution of Business among Department permits Minorities Affairs Department as under:-

26 - MINORITIES AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

1.  Safeguarding the rights of Minorities.

2.  Promotion of Welfare of Minorities.

3.  Promotion of sense of belongingness in the Minorities.

4.  Protection of Minorities against discrimination.

5.  Coordination with Federal Government on all matters of   Minority Affairs.

6.  Matters pertaining to Interfaith Harmony. (Substitutedvide Notification dated 25.11.2016).

7.  Service matters except those entrusted to Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
