Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, attended the first-ever Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference in Islamabad.

The Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference was constituted in Seoul, South Korea, in April 2025 under the visionary leadership of Honourable Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Founding Chairman of ISC and Chairman Senate of Pakistan.

 

The First Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference is being held in Islamabad on 11th and 12th November.

 

The Inauguration Ceremony of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference was held at Serena Hotel, inaugurated by Chief Guest Honorable Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Honorable Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Founding Chairman ISC, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

 

Secretary General Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference Honorable Ek Nath Dhakal and Ambassador ISC Ms. Misbah Khar also delivered formal speeches.

 

Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, was joined by the Speaker Provincial Assembly of Punjab, Speaker Provincial Assembly of Balochistan, and Speaker Legislative Assembly Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

 

In his speech, Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said, “I commend Chairman Senate and Founding Chairman ISC Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. Bringing legislators and diplomats to Islamabad echoes Pakistan’s untiring efforts for regional peace. Pakistan has always advocated for peace, security, and development, and continues to promote partnership with regional and global stakeholders. I hope ISC under the leadership of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will yield positive results for regional and global peace.”

 

Honorable Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Founding Chairman ISC, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, in his inaugural address said, “ISC has brought together distinguished guests, excellencies, speakers, and legislators from over 40 countries along with national leadership. The theme of ISC this year is peace, security, and development. ISC is not only a parliamentary institution but also a reflection of Pakistan’s efforts for peace, cooperation, and multilateralism.”

 

Adding further, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani said, “Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global emissions yet suffers the most. Climate Change is not a distant threat—it is here. If we as parliamentarians do not act, it will worsen. It is incumbent upon us as parliamentary leaders to shape legislative agendas ensuring that national security remains rooted in equitable human development.”

 

Chairman ISC Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani added, “Under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, my country remains committed to advocating the cause of peace, security, and development.”

 

Both the Prime Minister and Chairman Senate emphasized that global leaders should join Pakistan’s efforts in the war against global terrorism.

 

Speaking to Chairman Senate and Founding Chairman ISC Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh Syed Awais Qadir Shah commended his efforts in initiating this parliamentary alliance and appreciated his leadership in bringing global leaders to Islamabad.
