The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, His Excellency, Mr. Timothy Kane, called upon Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah at the Sindh Assembly office today.
The High Commissioner arrived in Karachi yesterday on a three-day introductory visit to Sindh.
His Excellency Mr. Timothy Kane was accompanied by Ms. Georga Nonnemacher, Second Secretary (Political), and Mr. Mateen Amin, Program Officer at the Australian High Commission.
During the meeting, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah was accompanied by Secretary Provincial Assembly of Sindh G.M. Umar Farooq and Director General Irfan Ahmed Memon.
Detailed discussions were held on bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, investment, education, skill development, water management, women’s rights, and future joint projects.
Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh Syed Awais Qadir Shah said that the relations between Pakistan and Australia are based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane said this is his first visit to Sindh and he is delighted to be here. He noted that Australia is interested in increasing investment opportunities in Pakistan.
His Excellency Mr. Timothy Kane highlighted that Twenty Three thousand Pakistani students are studying in Australia, reflecting the strong ties between the two countries.
Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah informed that the Provincial Assembly of Sindh has passed several effective laws for women’s rights and empowerment.
Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh Syed Awais Qadir Shah also invited the High Commissioner to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference, which the Sindh Assembly will host, and extended an invitation to witness the Assembly session.
Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah presented the guests with a legacy shield, Ajrak, and Sindhi cap.
High Commissioner Timothy Kane thanked the Assembly for its hospitality. The meeting concluded in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
