Speaker Sindh Assembly Syed Awais Qadir Shah Pays Tribute to Workers on Labour Day

Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, has paid heartfelt tribute to the working class of Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of Labour Day, acknowledging their indispensable role in building economies, communities, and futures.

In his message, the Speaker stated: “The strength of any nation lies in the hands of its workers, those who rise early, toil with honesty, and build dreams brick by brick. May 1st is not just a day to remember their struggles, it is a day to recommit ourselves to upholding their rights, voices, and dignity.”

He emphasized that Sindh has always led the way in advancing progressive labour reforms. “The Sindh Assembly has passed landmark legislation for workers, from domestic labour to women in agriculture and those in the informal sector. Our aim has never been charity; it has always been justice.”

Referring to recent initiatives, the Speaker added: “The Benazir Mazdoor Card is more than a social protection tool, it is a promise that every registered worker is seen, valued, and supported. From healthcare to scholarships for their children, this is our way of saying: your labour matters, and so do you.”

In closing, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah saluted the resilience of workers, saying: “To every worker who has carried the weight of inflation, instability, or inequality, we stand behind you. We honour your effort, and we remain committed to building a future where your labour leads not just to survival, but to a dignified life.”
