Resolution

To,

The Chief Secretary to Government of Sindh,

KARACHI

The Secretary to Government of Sindh,

Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Department,

KARACHI

Subject:      RESOLUTION.

I am to state that the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in its sitting held on Sunday, the 21st June, 2026 has unanimously passed the following Resolution moved by Mr. Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister, Sindh:

RESOLUTION

This House pays glowing tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Daughter of the East, and the first woman elected Prime Minister of a Muslim country, on the occasion of her 73rd birth anniversary being observed on 21 June 2026.

Born on 21 June 1953, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto dedicated her life to the service of the people of Pakistan and to the ideals of democracy, constitutional supremacy, social justice, federalism, women’s empowerment, and the rights of the marginalised. Following the judicial murder of her father, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, she endured imprisonment, solitary confinement, and exile, yet remained steadfast in her struggle against dictatorship and for the restoration of democracy.

This House acknowledges that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto became a global symbol of courage, resilience, and democratic resistance. Her historic election as Prime Minister in 1988 marked a watershed moment in Pakistan’s political history and in the advancement of women’s leadership across the Muslim world.

This House further recognises her efforts to broaden public access to education and healthcare, encourage greater participation of women in public life, and advocate for the welfare of workers, farmers, minorities, and other underserved segments of society. Through these initiatives, she sought to promote inclusive development and equal opportunity for all citizens.

This House notes with profound sorrow that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life on 27 December 2007 while leading the struggle for democracy and the supremacy of the Constitution. Her martyrdom remains a defining moment in Pakistan’s democratic journey and a reminder of the sacrifices made for the cause of the people.

This House also acknowledges that her political thought contributed to national discourse on parliamentary governance, federal harmony, and the strengthening of democratic processes, leaving a lasting imprint on Pakistan’s institutional development.

Therefore, this House:

1.       Pays its highest tribute to the life, struggle, achievements, and sacrifices of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto;

2.       Reaffirms its commitment to the democratic ideals, constitutional values, and principles of social justice for which she stood and ultimately laid down her life;

3.       Appreciates her unparalleled services for the people of Pakistan, particularly the people of Sindh; and

4.       Prays to Almighty Allah to elevate her ranks among the martyrs and grant Pakistan the wisdom and strength to continue striving for the democratic, progressive, and prosperous nation envisioned by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

May Allah Almighty bless her soul and grant her the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous. Ameen.
